I just finished watching President Trump’ 2nd State of the Union address. (SOTU) The speech was actually late because of the Government Shutdown.

The theme of the whole address was unify and make America Great. Divide and We fail.

I was very impressed with the speech and left with the desire to do more, to see America be great again. However, I’m sad to see the Democrats continue to be acting along party lines instead of unifying for the good of the country.

President Trump made numerous attempts to call for unity, which were mostly ignored. Many of the democrat women who were dressed in white to remember women suffrage sat there being completely rude to the President, only rising when Speaker Nancy Pelosi signaled them to.

Speaking of Pelosi, some of the expressions that she made during the President’s address indicated
her contempt for what President Trump was saying. Honestly, she looked like she had been sucking persimmons.

The President hit on a lot of issues. He talked about the need for border security and the border wall. He reminded Congress that there were 10 days left to pass the bill to fund the wall and keep everything in the government running.

He also talked about how the economy was improving and that unemployment decreasing especially among the disabled and women. The Democratic ladies actually clapped for that one.

One of the highlights for me was seeing the President condemn the actions that took place in New York and Virginia and his intention to put forth a bill to ban partial-birth abortions. I cheered at that one.

I think it was a great address. Frankly, it is one of Trump’s best. Even the commentator said that he usually doesn’t talk about liberty and freedom.

In conclusion, Trump is doing his best to take the country to new heights, despite major opposition. I applaud our President for standing on his principles and not backing down despite major pressure. I think President Donald J. Trump will go down in history as one of the best presidents in the history of the United States.
